Two Managing Director Celebrates 20 Year Landmark
This month, Two Managing Director Simon Savage is set for a landmark moment in his career. Simon is celebrating working 20 years with Two’s parent company Workplace Futures Group, and in this Q&A he gives us an insight into his journey so far.
How does it feel be celebrating 20 years with WFG?
“20 years – I can’t quite believe it. It seems remarkable that I’ve been at this amazing business for so long!”
How did your journey begin?
“My first interview was with Gary Slater (that’s right – our friendly H&S consultant!). At the time the facilities management side of the group was looking for a handy man – someone to go around our sites fixing door locks and painting offices. Luckily, Gary offered me the job and I was chuffed to bits.”
How has the business changed over the years?
“There have been so many changes over the years and we’ve lived through a fair few good and bad times, but I’m still here along with a few other long timers (you know who you are) and I’m proud to say that I’m still part of this amazing group.
“I’m also now running my own team, and this is by far my biggest professional achievement along with my other board promotions. Having my own business and the satisfaction this gives me is immense; I truly can’t even put it into words”
How have your colleagues helped you along the way?
“So many people have believed in me over the years; to mention a few: Toby, Tim, Matthew, Tibor and Linz. We also mustn’t forget Hillary Kavanagh (who now resides in Australia) and of course my number two Steve McCall, who has been working alongside me for 14 years.”
“It really shows just how long Steve and I have worked together as we often turn up to work dressed identically – totally cringy, but now we embrace it (and sometimes even coordinate it!) and have a good laugh with the rest of our team.”
What is your favourite thing about working with Two?
I love how Two is like a tight-knit family. In fact, I get to work with my wife Jane, who does a fantastic job supporting our delivery teams!”
Do you have a final message for our readers and the Two team?
“Although we are going through tough and unprecedented times, I know that Workplace Futures Group we will come through this stronger and better. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and well and I look forward to seeing everyone face to face soon – even if it means two meters apart.”
