Ubisoft, the global video game publisher behind titles such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six, sought to re-establish a strong sense of identity within it’s UK business and engagement hub. The aim was to enhance employee collaboration and create a space to better connect to their players at The Forge, Woking.
Project in Brief
- Adapting an existing fit out to better support the team’s needs with a turn key solution
- The space was reconfigured to include a boardroom, gaming room, phone booths and an expanded breakout area
- The space was designed to encourage creativity and everyday interaction between colleagues
A Softer Approach to Workplace Design
Ubisoft wanted to create a calm, welcoming environment. The design introduces a residential feel, softening the building’s industrial character while maintaining its integrity.
A muted palette of sage green, terracotta and warm neutrals create a relaxed atmosphere, supporting both wellbeing and focus. Frosted glazing was introduced at ground level to provide privacy while maintaining natural light and a sense of openness.
The layout was opened to improve flow, with the breakout space positioned as a central hub to encourage connection and informal collaboration.
Inspiring Brand Integration
Brand identity is subtle, allowing the space to feel balanced rather than overwhelming. A large Assassin’s Creed statue provides a focal point, while arcade machines, concept art and game clues are integrated into breakout areas as a nod to Ubisoft’s culture.
A dedicated gaming room offers a contrasting experience. Finished in a dark, immersive palette, it creates a distinct environment that reflects the company’s core work while supporting employee and player engagement.
Outcome
The result is a workplace that feels considered, comfortable and distinctly Ubisoft. By balancing residential warmth with moments of brand expression, the space encourages people back into the office and supports a more connected, creative culture.
