Two’s Trailblazers: India Cornish makes Mix 30 under 30 Class of 2022

It’s official, our girl India Cornish, has made it into the Mix Interiors 30 under 30: Class of 2022! Here’s a little look inside her creative mind!

What inspired you to become a designer?

My love of being creative. When I was little, I used to love making things and seeing things come to life that I created from nothing. It was quite inspiring. Plus, both my parents work in the art industry and took me to a lot of exhibitions, so that influenced me too.

What’s your favourite project?

Work.Life Old Street. The colours and the boldness are great. Also, I really enjoyed figuring out how to make the building functional, whilst also tying it in with the vibe of the location.

Are there any useful design hacks that you’ve learned?

Keep your suppliers close haha. Also, collaboration is important as you need to talk your ideas through with different people. They might be able to build on your idea and add to it. Design is subjective so it’s important to make sure that you cover several bases, not just your own.

Who would you name as your favourite designer?

Antoni Gaudi, he was a Spanish architect.

What advice would you give aspiring designers?

Be confident in your design.

How do you stay creative and motivated?

I use Pinterest and Instagram quite a lot. I am constantly swiping and seeing posts that inspire me. Also, going to cool places helps, such as restaurants with unique and vibrant designs. Whenever I travel, immersing myself in different cultures also helps keep me creative.

What trend do you think we should be on the lookout for?

Technology used to aid sustainability is a good trend to keep an eye out for, as nowadays everything is on your smartphone.
