Work.Life’s newest coworking space at the Courtyard Building brings a bold, design-led approach to flexible working. Sitting in the heart of Hatton Garden, an area famed for its jewellery trade, the 32,000 sq ft workspace takes inspiration from gemstones, both in colour and form, creating a visually striking yet highly functional environment. The space introduces Work.Life’s first dedicated event space and a podcast room, alongside a curated mix of meeting rooms, hot-desking areas, and breakout spaces.

Project in Brief

  • A gemstone-inspired design that reflects Hatton Garden’s jewellery heritage.
  • A vibrant coworking space with a flexible layout catering to different work styles.
  • The introduction of an event space and a podcast room, both firsts for Work.Life.

A Workspace That Reflects Its Neighbourhood

Work.Life wanted the Courtyard Building to feel connected to its surroundings, making Hatton Garden’s rich jewellery history the starting point for the design. The concept comes through in the colour palette, materials, and spatial details, with each meeting room named after a gemstone, Topaz, Amethyst, and Sapphire, bringing a distinctive identity to different zones.

Beyond colour, the theme extends into physical design elements. Faceted shapes influenced everything from lighting installations to the statement bar on the ground floor, where 3D-moulded glass fragments create a striking centrepiece.

Designed for Flexibility and Functionality

The space was designed to support a broad mix of working styles, with adaptability built into the layout. The ground floor introduces Work.Life’s first dedicated event space, designed to host networking sessions, industry panels, and community gatherings. A custom-built podcast and screening room adds another layer of functionality, offering members a high-spec setup for content creation.

Existing skylights on the lower ground floor had to be worked into the design to maintain natural light. Frequent updates to the layout were needed to align with Work.Life’s evolving requirements. Bringing together bold design, smart functionality, and a strong sense of place, the Courtyard Building is a standout addition to Work.Life’s coworking portfolio, one that offers more than just a desk.
