The challenge
Can you create a bold yet contemporary co-working environment that is not only functional but striking in the heart of vibrant Old Street whilst capturing Work Life’s ethos, design intent and reflect the local surrounding area and its artistic heritage? This was the challenge set by Work Life, to create a co-working space that reflected the new way of working in a post pandemic world. The building itself had its challenges.
The solution
So how did we overcome these challenges? It was important to work with the building’s beautiful industrial features which was a nod towards its surroundings previous history. We created private offices, varying in sizes and hot desking options including railway booths, banquette booths and standard hot table desking. Bookable meeting spaces with virtual video conferencing capabilities were a must, offering bright pops of colour to reflect the vibrant abundance of graffiti art that surround the building. Dedicated Zoom Rooms and 1P Call booths were installed, bold paint colours and raw metal textures were incorporated to create a contemporary and modern industrial space, paired with soft tanned leather furnishings and bold dogtooth fabrics. Deep blues and tans were contrasted beautifully with a multitude of pink tones, from bold deep pink, right through to a much softer palette used in the furniture fabrics. We got clever with the lower ground floor, using an array of alcoves all with glazed ceiling areas, for informal and formal banquette seating booths.
