Can you bring London to Bournemouth? That was the question that Koin posed when they came to us with their project: having their old and used space transformed into a cool, quirky office, inspired by London workspaces. With 8 weeks on the clock, there was a lot on our plates. We needed to make sure that each team had their own space that they could work in and enjoy. Creating spaces which offered privacy, quietness, but also areas for moving around in without disrupting others was a huge priority too. Designing a space that managed to fulfil everyone’s individual needs, from the sales team to the design team, was a huge task, but we are never ones to shy away. So, we got to work.
The solution
There were a number of factors at play that allowed for the massively successful completion of the project. We made sure to hold lots of design workshops before the project started to make sure that there was no room for error. To make sure that all the teams’ needs were met, we made sure to create different working areas over the two floors. Hot desks for those that needed to move around were focused upstairs, so that the design team downstairs were afforded quietness, allowing them to focus on their work. As each floor was quite large and open, to create a sense of privacy we included open shelving units to act as barriers. To create an eclectic vibe to the space, mismatched furniture, a moss wall, and neon lighting were scattered throughout the space.
